We build custom walking scavenger hunts that activate sidewalks, attract visitors, and showcase public art, history, and small businesses through the Xplorer app. Our hunts are perfect programming activations for downtown business districts, festivals, parks, social districts, and more!
How It Works
After downloading the Xplorer app, users navigate to locations on the responsive map and solve puzzles at unique clue locations. Once all the clues are found, participants solve a final riddle to unlock the treasure chest and earn a prize!

Demo Hunt
Download the Xplorer App and use “demo” as the Activity Code. Navigate to Raleigh, NC on the map to see the clue locations around NC State University. Answers are shown in each clue photo so you can play through the treasure hunt without being in Raleigh. Imagine exploring the map area on foot while searching for each clue photo!
Downtown Winston-Salem

What locations are suitable for an Xplorer hunt?
We recommend walkable locations with a variety of points of interest such as downtown business districts, large public parks, college campuses, and more. Xplorer hunts can also be created with clues at drivable distances as needed.
How does the implementation process work?
We set up a virtual planning meeting to discuss your specific goals for the hunt including the hunt footprint, desired clue locations, and desired businesses or information to highlight. We then come on-site to create a test version of the hunt for your review. After review, the hunt is ready to go live on the agreed date! The implementation process generally takes 2-4 weeks.
How do participants find and play the hunt?
We provide signage graphics for each hunt that include QR codes to download the Xplorer app for Apple or Android phones alone with the unique "Activity Code" for your hunt. Simply open the Xplorer app and type in that activity code to play!
Who We Are
Created in 2018, Triangle Treasure Hunt started with Co-Creators Ben and Whitney hunting through the winding Italian streets of Florence. After the hunt, Ben got down on one knee and ended the hunt with real treasure by putting a ring on Whitney’s finger. The engaged couple returned home to Raleigh, North Carolina and began designing treasure hunts to inspire people to explore together.
The Xplorer mobile scavenger hunt app was created in 2023 to bring the thrill of a walking treasure hunt across the country. We aim to inspire exploration of the incredible local highlights our cities and towns have to offer!
